@sydney what kinda genres/formats are you looking for — poetry, nonfiction, fiction all okay?

@byttyrs I typically gravitate towards memoirs, but I'm open to all formats. Ideal something thats easy to get into since my brain was taken by a small human recently and with a lighter or more positive theme cause this lady gets anxious enough as is.

@sydney suddenly realizing how far back I have to dig for anything I read that wasn't dense, depressing, or both. uhhh, gimme a sec

@sydney I read and enjoyed Sally Rooney's Conversations with Friends. I also really like Rachel Cusk's Outline trilogy

book recommendation, long, sorry

@sydney Do you want to think or just have fun? I'm a big fan of village cozy mysteries. I don't read anything serious. (And actually I don't read them, I listen to audiobooks because multi-tasking blah blah and the guy who reads them is amazing.) But I absolutely love the Inspector Gamache series from Louise Penny. They're based in Quebec and they aren't gritty, but are very clever. They make me want to learn French. There's 11 or 12 of the books in the series.

@deneb basically I am sick of scrolling through my phone during our 4am feeds and looking for something entertaining enough to keep me awake but that does not require a whole lot of brain power. I’ll check those out!

book recommendation, long, sorry

@sydney They are really fun books and are great as audiobooks too if you need your hands free.

@deneb I have tried to do audiobooks but I find myself not listening after about five minutes. I actually put them on when I need to get work done because ignoring them makes me more productive 😂

@sydney That's amazing!! I wish they did that for me!!!

book recommendation, long, sorry

@deneb I learned this when I tried to listen to infinite jest while working in the wardrobe department of an opera company. I got so much more done listening to it but I did not process a word of it.

@sydney Hmm, I wonder if I listen to something that would be difficult for me to follow while actively working if I could produce this effect. It is well known that I love an experiment.
