IMPORTANT QUESTION:

Are chocolate milk and hot chocolate basically the same thing at different temperatures???

@sydney

In my opinion yes because I'm not one of those monsters that make hot chocolate with water. I make hot chocolate with milk.

@alice would you or have you ever heated up chocolate milk (like from a bottle of premade chocolate milk) and called it hot chocolate?

@sydney no because hot chocolate is cocoa stirred into heated milk. The cocoa may be a sugar mix in an envelope or from scratch. Bonus points if you do it latinx style with a little cinnamon and stuff

@alice what would you call that beverage then? Hot chocolate milk?

@sydney I think there are much much lower standards for chocolate milk. Also potentially hot chocolate can contain more dissolved solids because it's hot? Unsure about that one

@Aleums if you make hot chocolate and then cool it down and drink it cold is it then chocolate milk?

@sydney only if you present it to an unaware second party as such and they don't ask any questions. You know it's just cold hot chocolate because that's how you made it

@sydney in my mind chocolate milk is already mixed when you buy it - hot chocolate is regular milk that you mix choc into yourself

@em if one were to heat up chocolate milk and put it in a mug would you consider it hot chocolate at that point?

@sydney no, that's just warm chocolate milk. hot chocolate you gotta stir chocolate/flavour into warm milk
